UCD Geary Institute - Economics & Psychology
|
This website contains course material for the final year Behavioural Economics option in UCD and the final year Economics and Psychology option in Trinity College. The lecture series follows the same format for both courses though I will provide separate lecture notes and follow a slightly more mathematical track in the final year Economics section.
The overall aim of both courses is to provide an overview of the key areas of intersection between economics and psychology. This area is an exciting field with increasing academic prominence and real-world applications. Students will be introduced to core areas of economics and psychology such as judgment, rational choice, intertemporal decision making and emotion-based decision making. The course will also cover emerging areas of economics and psychology such as neuroeconomics which seeks to examine the biological foudations of economic decision making.
The course will be valuable to people with a strong intrinsic interest in human behaviour and a desire to apply theories from psychology to real-world problems in the public and private sector. It provides a strong foundation for later graduate work in this area. It will also be valuable to people thinking of pursuing careers in areas such as policy research, market research, government policy agencies and related fields.
Lecture notes will be made available on this website and there is an individual page for each lecture. Each "lecture" is in fact a block of material and some may stretch to two full sessions.
My contact details are available on this site. Please email me if there is anything else you would like to be included on the website or if you have further questions. I hope you benefit from this course.
